Kyokushin Karate is a full-contact style of stand-up fighting originating from Japan. It is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline, and hard training. The martial arts organization Kyokushin Kaikan was founded in 1964 by Korean-Japanese Masutatsu Oyama. Since then, the style has spread to more than 120 countries, becoming one of the largest martial arts organizations in the world, and in Japan itself. Kyokushin is known for its powerful strikes, intensive training and adaptability suited for practical fighting and realistic self-defence.
